Chris
became General Manager of Claridge’s in July,
1998 and was appointed Managing Director in March,
2002. At Claridges, he has created a product
that both honours tradition and embraces leading
edge service and quality. Claridges and
its entire staff share values which they demonstrate,
and a mission which is owned and driven by all.
The resulting energy and ‘buzz’, which is apparent,
has been achieved through the creation of a new
culture under Chris’s leadership. A first impression
of Chris Cowdray is of a gentleman and professional.
His qualities include inner calm, absolute integrity,
belief in others, astute business awareness and
a passion for excellence and world class customer
service. His skills include: the ability to transform
business through people; the capacity to lead
others in both self-reflection and innovative
thinking; and, highly effective communication.
It is not surprising therefore that he commands
the loyalty and love of his staff. Through
his qualities, skills and leadership, he has guided
and supported them through a difficult and bumpy
journey over the last 3 years. He belongs
to the group of modern leaders whom Charles Handy
describes as ‘The New Alchemists’.

Yanky has had two books published by Oak Tree Press:
Fire in the Belly - an exploration of the entrepreneurial
spirit and My Family Doesn't Understand Me! - Coping
strategies for entrepreneurs. The core of Yanky's
entrepreneurial message is that when most people

entrepreneurial skills. In other words, the how

focus is on the emotional aspect of entrepreneurship.

If ‘portfolio careers’ are the latest thing, then Tim
Fearon may be one of the pioneers in the field.
He is an outstanding example of the ‘if you can
dream it, you can do it’ school. He is hugely
practical, pragmatic, challenging and entertaining.
He went straight from school to work backstage in
the theatre. From there he went on to manage
a major new arts initiative. The project up and
running, he moved on to work with young unemployed
people he had become involved, during the arts centre
project, many of whom had significant learning difficulties.
He set up a company specifically geared to training
them for the future. In the face of tremendous
odds, the company, now a registered charity, achieved
a success rate of getting 70% of the young people
into full time employment. This work came
to the attention of The Industrial Society, they
asked Tim to talk to other organisations about the
work he was doing. Tim moved to The Industrial Society
where he stayed for six years. He ended up
as Head of the Voluntary Organisations Unit and
Head of Youth Development. He moved from here
to join Mercuri International, the world’s largest
sales, marketing and customer service consultancy.
Tim left Mercuri to set up on his own as a coach
and facilitator. So when Tim speaks about leadership,
about personal development, about service, it is
from the heart because all of these are at the heart
of who he is and what he does. |
