Lady Ann Foley delighted the members of Pound Hill WI with her talk on 'Having the Queen to Stay'. The organisers said her talk was excellent and amusing.
Lady Ann is new to the speaking circuit and has a wealth of stories based on her expereinces of living in various parts of the World.
She is a youthful, breezy, sparkling and spontaneous lady who has a clear voice and her audiences are enraptured by her friendly, relaxed, warm and slightly confidential style of delivery. She is very intelligent and can grasp facts very quickly. She is highly amusing and has the capacity to motivate audiences because of her rare ability to relate to people at all levels and from “any walk of life”.
Ann has a very warm personality and enjoys the company of other people. She is fascinated by people and she has a very positive outlook on life. She is brilliant at giving and hosting all types of Events and Parties and in making guests feel welcome.
Ann is married to Lieutenant General Sir John Foley. Sir John and Ann have recently returned from Guernsey where he was the Lieutenant Governor. Ann was much involved in life on Guernsey as the Governor’s Wife. During their stay on Guernsey, they had the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to stay with them.

| Richard Meredith's new book 'Driven Together' out now |

Richard Meredith's latest book 'Driven Together' (published by Mercury Books ISBN 978-0-9541432-4-4) tells the story of an historic journey in an Aston Martin to be the irst driver to 'road test' a full corssing of the new Asian Highway network that had been a dream of the nations of the East for 50 years.
A ceremony at the Asian Commission of the United Nations in Bangkok opened the door to one of the most important journeys of modern motoring. The trip of excitement and danger is a first hand account of a journey of the future that is sure to be followed by millions of travellers and traders inthe years to come.
As a British adventurer and charity fund-raiser and road-safety campaigner Richard made the journey a successful fund-raising mission for UNICEF and a tool for promoting road safety in the various countries he crossed as well.
Richhd is no stranger to adventure and danger as a former national newspaper journalist and business magazine publisher he took to writing adventure travel novels when he found himself at a crossroads in life. His first book 'One Way or Another' came after what he called " a gap year for grown-ups" in which he visited six continents on a restless odyssey that brought him into a catalogue of scrapes and misadventures.
Undeterred, he then toook a family hatchback from the UK to South Korea in 'Which Way Next' on a hair-raising journey that included an unscheduled drive through Afghanistan's Khyber Pass just weeks after the US invasion.
Like his latest trip across the new Asian Highway, Richard tries to harness publicity from his adventures in generatign funds for charitable causes. Over the last 20 years he has helped to raise more than £400,000 for sick children, orphans and young people in danger.
He has also published an anthology of his experiences as an author to help new and aspiring writers.
